Roma are keen on Lukaku.
AS Roma have become the latest side thought to be interested in Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, joining Tottenham Hotspur in the pursuit, according to talkSPORT.
The 20-year-old has been impressing again this season whilst out on-loan, scoring 14 goals in 31 appearances for Everton in all competitions.
This added to the 17 Premier League strikes Lukaku netted whilst with West Bromwich Albion the season before and the Belgian is building quite a reputation for himself.
With the Blues lacking quality upfront currently – with Demba Ba, Samuel Eto’o and Fernando Torres all failing to truly impress this term – many wonder why the west Londoners don’t want the forward themselves.
Yet manager Jose Mourinho doesn’t see eye-to-eye with Lukaku and could well allow the youngster to leave Stamford Bridge for a respectable fee.
The club signed the Belgium international from Anderlecht in 2011 for £18m, but it’s thought that either Roma or Spurs would be prepared to offer £25m – something which could well tempt Mourinho.
Lukaku’s current deal at Stamford Bridge expires in 2016 and whether or not the starlet stays could well depend on whether that is extended or not; something which remains in doubt due to the tensions between player and manager.
The striker is among the most highly regarded youngsters in the game currently due to his maturity and skill on the pitch, combined with an imposing physical presence.
Lukaku also already has 26 caps for Belgium despite his age and will have a chance to impress on the biggest stage this summer when his nation compete in their first World Cup since 2002.
