Manchester United are not interested in pursuing a deal for Valencia centre-back Nicolas Otamendi, according to reports.
Several reports suggested the Red Devils were on the verge of signing the Argentine international, however, sources have told ESPNFC that there is “no truth” in the to the speculation.
Otamendi starred for Valencia last season and helped guide Los Che to fourth place in La Liga and reports linked the Argentine with a move to Old Trafford to help Louis van Gaal solve his defensive woes.
It now seems United will not move for Otamendi, and The Mirror have reported that the Red Devils’ noisy neighbours Manchester City are keen to complete a deal for the 27-year-old.
Valencia are believed to be desperate to hold onto the Argentine international, however, it is understood the player is keen for a move to the Premier League.
The La Liga club have been adamant they will only allow Otamendi to leave if a club matches the player’s £35m release clause, and it remains to be seen if City are willing to stump up such a fee.
