The Indianapolis Colts have signed KR specialist Josh Cribbs to give them a boost in the return game.
According to ProFootballTalk, the Colts gave Cribbs a tryout last week but were not ready to sign him then.
Cribbs is a 3-time Pro Bowl Kick Returner and is the NFL’s all-time record holder for kickoff return touchdowns, with eight in his career. He last played for the Jets last season after previously playing eight years for the Browns, but he suffered a season-ending pectoral tear after playing in just 6 games.
Cribbs should bolster a Colts return game that hasn’t been particularly effective this season. The Colts’ primary returner, Griff Whalen, has averaged 7.2 yards on punt returns and 25.3 yards on kickoff returns but has fumbled twice.
Last season, Cribbs had 13 carries for 55 yards on offense as well as two completed passes for a total of 38 yards. He had 20 kickoff returns and averaged 24.5 yards/return as well as 12.0 yards/punt return.
