Fergie spent big on the England centre-half and, despite a lengthy ban for missing a drugs test, Ferdy has rarely disappointing at Old Trafford. After a nine seasons of near faultless performances for United, injuries looked to have got the better of Ferdinand but he has come back strong this term and proved vital in the Red Devils’ 20th top-flight title.
