Ireland beat Pakistan (2007)
The same day as the Bangladesh’s shock in beating India and in fact, somewhat fittingly, on St. Patrick’s Day, Ireland needed an unlikely victory against Pakistan to qualify for the knockout stage of the competition for the first time ever.
Ireland dismissed Pakistan for a miserly 132 runs and toiled through a tough run chase with victory eventually sealed as Kevin O’Brien hit an unbeaten 16 to seal a three wicket victory.
