5. The Indianapolis Colts still have rebuilding to do
A trip to the AFC Championship gives the Colts hope for the future as quarterback Andrew Luck continued to develop toward becoming an elite quarterback. However, he melted down against the Patriots as he was held to 126 passing yards and two interceptions on 12-of-33 passing. He cannot be blamed entirely for the loss though as the defense allowed 45 points, and running back LeGarrette Blount steamrolled them for 148 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries while quarterback Tom Brady threw three touchdown passes.
This was very much like last year’s playoff meeting between the Patriots and Colts. The Colts would not be as deep in the playoffs as they were if not for Luck. Their running game and defense are still in need of major upgrades, as demonstrated by Trent Richardson being benched for an undrafted rookie(Dan Herron) and the Colts allowing over 40 points against elite offenses.
