2. Tony Romo is clutch
While this has been stated over and over again by the Cowboys quarterback’s supporters, Romo proved yet again that he can thrive in clutch situations. He rallied his team from a 20-7 deficit against the Detroit Lions and threw the game-winning touchdown pass to wide receiver Terrance Williams with just over two minutes left in the game. The quarterback’s critics would have expected a game-ending interception, but he put a slow start behind him and performed excellently in the second half.
While the referees certainly made a questionable call to pick up the flag after calling pass interference, it doesn’t take away from the fact that the Lions were only able to score three points in the second half and that Romo threw two touchdown passes, including one when it counted the most. While Romo still needs a more polished playoff resume to silence his critics for good, he got on the right track with Sunday’s performance. An Aaron Rodgers-led Green Bay Packers offense will be difficult to outduel though.
