Cesc Fabregas must play further forward
The Spaniard has suffered a disappointing dip in form in the second-half of the season, but it mustn’t be dismissed that the playmaker has often been positioned alongside Nemanja Matic in a deeper role, which has left the midfielder less influential.
The return of Ramires and Oscar to the line-up has given Fabregas the opportunity to play further forward – the position he should play – and it was he who won the penalty against Stoke in an advanced role.
He is a dangerous player – one who is capable of delivering assists and goals – but he is at his very best behind the striker – like former Stamford Bridge favourite Juan Mata.
