Wednesday’s Indian Premier League season opener between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians was not short of action.
The game, which was won by defending champions KKR, witnessed six wickets and 338 runs, including 18 sixes and 29 fours.
It also saw Gautam Gambhir’s bat snap it half (see tweet lower in article).

However, the most exciting moment for many had nothing to do with cricket at all.
The video below, which shows a giant insect crawling around the lens of an on-pitch camera, went viral.
Sky Sports were broadcasting live IPL coverage for the first time ever. They will surely be hoping that there are no more bugs in the system for the remainder of IPL 8, which continues today when Chennai Super Kings take on Delhi Daredevils.
