NRL big names to start from the bench.
The most talked about player in the NRL at the moment is returning rugby star Sonny Bill Williams. His return from Rugby Union has sold out the round one clash between his new team the Sydney Roosters and the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
But according to Fox Sports Williams will make his return to the NRL from the sidelines after being named on an extended bench for the Sydney Roosters.
The former All Blacks star was in doubt for the match after competing in a WBA heavyweight bout in Brisbane just three weeks ago.
SBW also had surgery on a ruptured pectoral muscle which he sustained while playing Rugby Union in Japan last year.
Williams will not be the only NRL star to begin the season on the bench, with both South Sydney Rabbitohs captain Michael Crocker, and Brisbane Bronco’s international representative prop Ben Hannatt, named on their team benches.
With Crocker sidelined due to a form slump, the Broncos have chosen rising young gun Josh McGuire ahead of the international player.
