Tottenham win for the first time since AVB’s sacking.
It was a good day for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League as a brace from Emmanuel Adebayor helped secure a 2-3 victory over Southampton.
The striker has been brought back into the side by interim manager Tim Sherwood after the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas on Monday.
Here’s how the Spurs players rated:
Hugo Lloris – 6
A more confident display than has been seen from the Frenchman of late, although did make a poor decision which led to Rickie Lambert’s goal.
Kyle Walker – 7
Did well to keep Jay Rodriguez quiet and broke forward often, although the right-back’s crossing was generally poor.
Vlad Chiriches – 6
Not a bad display from the Romania international although the impressive Adam Lallana gave the centre-back the run-around at times.
Michael Dawson – 6
Seems to be forming a good partnership with Chiriches, but is still caught out on occasions by attackers with more pace.
Danny Rose – 8
The left-back is developing into quite a talent and gave the Saints defence plenty of problems with some surging runs.
Moussa Dembele – 6
Was given the role of defensive midfielder for the afternoon, although it’s clear that the Belgian is too attack minded for the position.
Erik Lamela – 5
Another disappointing game for the Argentine who is struggling to adjust to life in England and looked off the pace.
Gylfi Sigurdsson – 6
Provided some good link-up play with Rose on the left-hand side although most of the decent moments came from the Englishman.
Christian Eriksen – 7
The young Dane is beginning to look like one of the better summer signings for Villas-Boas and it was a solid display from the attacking midfielder.
Roberto Soldado – 7
Looked nervous in front of goal but played the supporting role for Adebayor with verve and put in a great cross for the opening goal.
Emmanuel Adebayor – 9
Spurs fans will be hoping this isn’t just the Togo international proving AVB wrong as the forward has netted three goals in the last two games.
