Premiership new boys Cardiff City look set to battle Southampton for Celtic’s Kenyan midfielder.
The chase is on for tough-tackling Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama, according to Sky Sports.
Southampton and Cardiff City both want to add some steel to their midfield, and see Victor Wanyama as the perfect option. Reports in Scotland claim that Celtic are prepared to sell the highly-rated 21-year-old, but only if they receive offers of £10 million and above.
Morgan Schneiderlin has anchored the midfield well for Southampton, but having a dedicated enforcer alongside him could allow him to be deployed as more of a deep-lying playmaker.
Wanyama’s ability to deputise in central defence could also prove useful for the Saints.
Southampton want to kick on from their successful 14th place finish last year, while Cardiff City are prepared to invest in the team to aid an inevitable relegation battle.
Wanyama has become integral to the Scottish champions ever since his £900,000 move from Belgian side Beerschot in 2011, and won the Clydesdale Bank Premier League Young Player of the Year last season.
