Pochettino wants Damiao, Banega and Wanyama at St Mary’s next season.
Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has dropped a bombshell in terms of transfer targets by revealing the club are bidding for Leandro Damiao, Ever Banega and Victor Wanyama.
Brazil international Damiao has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur in the past, whilst Celtic’s Wanyama has been named in a switch to Arsenal.
However, along with Banega of Valencia the Saints are aiming to swoop for the trio in what would be quite a coup in only the club’s second season back in the Premier League.
“We manage a lot of information about very good players. One of them is Damiao, also Banega and also Wanyama,” Pochettino was quoted on Sky Sports.
“We are managing when these players are going to be signed and how we sign them.
“Our squad as it is really good already, but we just want to bring in two or three players that reinforce key areas in the squad to become an even better team.”
It was known that Kenyan midfielder Wanyama was a target for the Saints, having been previously touted by both Arsenal and Manchester United following two impressive seasons with Celtic – which included scoring in the Scottish champions’ famous 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the Champions League last season.
However, 23-year-old Damiao was less of a known target with the striker having already earned 17 caps for Brazil and scoring three goals.
Banega meanwhile is a 25-year-old Argentinian midfielder that has played for Valencia for the past four seasons, regularly appearing in Les Che side in both La Liga and the Champions League and the player also has 15 caps for Argentina.
