Manchester United have set their eyes on a new target since being beaten by Chelsea to the signature of Barcelona winger Pedro, and are now reportedly pursuing Southampton winger Sadio Mané.
The Red Devils has a fight on its hands to sign Mane, with Southampton manager Ronald Koeman essentially shutting the door on transfer rumours surrounding his club.
“Nobody is for sale, we will do everything to keep the best players here,” Koeman said, according to Sports Mole.
The Saints have already sold two significant contributors in defender Nathaniel Clyne and midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. They respectively transferred to Liverpool and Man United.
Man United are preparing to offer the Saints over £20m for the 23-year-old winger though, with Louis van Gaal keen on bolstering his attack.
The Red Devils are hoping to fill the void left by Robin van Persie’s departure, as Wayne Rooney remains the team’s only consistent scoring threat.
He has gotten off to a slow start for the Red Devils this season, however, and Van Gaal will be looking to provide the English international with extra support before the close of the transfer window.
