The Reds are keen on signing Lovren.
Liverpool have offered £8m for Southampton defender Dejan Lovren in a bid to improve their problems at the back, according to the Sun.
It seems there could be an exodus from St Mary’s this summer after another impressive season for the Saints and Lovren is just the latest to be added to the exit list.
The Reds have already entered negotiations for captain Adam Lallana, whilst Luke Shaw is expected to join Manchester United and Arsenal are keeping tabs on Morgan Schneiderlin.
With manager Mauricio Pochettino being heavily linked with the vacant position at Tottenham Hotspur, it could really be a period of change for the Hampshire club.
Lovren has only been in English football for 12 months after completing an £8.5m switch to the south coast from Lazio last summer.
Since then the Croatia international has impressed greatly, helping Pochettino’s side go from having one of the worst defensive records in the Premier League to having one of the best.
The 24-year-old signed a four-year contract with the club and with three years left on that deal the Saints are not in a position where they have to sell Lovren.
However, the lure of Champions League football could prove to be too great for the centre-back, with Brendan Rodgers desperate to improve his defence at Anfield.
It’s widely believed the key reason the Merseysiders eventually lost out in the title race to Manchester City was because of the amount of goals they conceded and Lovren could help plug that gap.
