Pochettino pushes Biglia towards South Coast move.
Southampton are set to beat Arsenal to the signing of Lucas Biglia according to The Daily Mirror.
The Anderlecht midfielder is currently in his native Argentina after going on strike in an attempt to force a move away from the club.
Biglia is keen on a move to the Premier League and has attracted the attention of a host of clubs including Liverpool, West Ham and Spurs.
Arsenal were thought to be at the head of that queue but it appears Southampton have raced in and tempted the player to make a move to the South Coast.
The Belgian midfielder is apparently keen on working with his compatriot, new Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino, who attempted to sign the player during his time as Espanyol boss.
It is believed a fee in the region of £8 million would be enough to secure the player’s services.
Southampton are keen to bring in quality reinforcements as they look to drag themselves up the Premier League table and avoid a relegation dogfight as they enter the latter stages of the season.
The board are willing to back newly-appointed Pochettino as he looks to stamp his own mould on the side and secure the club’s Premier League status.
