Spanish journalist Kike Marin says the Basque club have a keen interest in the Spaniard, however in what will be welcome news in north London, Monreal has no desire to leave the Gunners – and even less to join the La Liga side.

Monreal has emerged as one of the form players of Arsenal season and worked hard since his £10 million deadline day move to the Emirates in January 2013 to become a well respected and applauded name in the English capital.
The defender has even become first-choice for the Gunners this season, fighting off the challenge from homegrown left-back Kieran Gibbs and becoming a key and reliable component of Arsene Wenger’s first-team outfit.
Bilbao have a famous tradition of signing and playing stars only from the Basque region and Monreal would fit these restrictions after being born in the Pamplona region of Spain.
The Daily Express believe Leicester City’s Jeffrey Schlupp could be the man to replace Monreal for Arsenal if he decides to quit the club – thought this remains incredibly unlikely – and would cost in the region of £5m
