Nervy moments for Reds fans as Madrid and Barca could activate Uruguayan’s release clause.
The Luis Suarez transfer saga is far from settled this summer as Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are both believed to be keen to activate the £68 million release clause in his contract with Liverpool, according to the Daily Star.
Although Suarez had hinted at a stay in Anfield this summer, the likes of Barca and Madrid still believe that they have a chance of landing their high profile target.
Suarez’s release clause is believed to be out of bounds for English clubs, but the likes of Los Blancos and Barca are also a huge attraction for the 27-year old.
The big Spanish clubs are known to get what they want in the transfer market, which means that the Liverpool fans will be having their hearts in their mouths until the transfer window slams shut in August.
It would be a big blow for Brendan Rodgers and his team if they lose Suarez despite offering him a bumper new deal recently and also qualifying for the Champions League, but the Northern Irishman may well need to prepare for that eventuality by lining up a new replacement for the star striker.
