The Sporting chief is apparently using the global Soccerex convention in Manchester as cover for his trip to the UK and will have the future of the young midfielder on his agenda.
Carvalho was linked with both United and Arsenal during the summer transfer window, but it was with the Gunners that he was most strongly linked to towards the end of proceedings.
Sporting are reportedly trying to buy back some of the player’s rights so a transfer is more beneficial to them and if they know a club is going to pay a certain amount. It gives them clarity and confidence in lending the money to buy back some rights.
The Lisbon giants have been known to dig their heels in over the figures of some of their outgoings this summer, with the likes of Marcos Rojo and Eric Dier both making their way to the Premier League.
