A late try from Mike Cooper stole the win for the Dragons. It was a real arm wrestle this one and the home team’s sterling defence kept them in the match.
Daniel Vidot got the first try of the game and one over his opposite number Eto Nabuli.
But Nabuli was next to score after he got a hand to a Gareth Widdop kick.
In a low-scoring affair, Sam Thaiday was the next to touchdown when he rumbled over from short range.
Vidot should have sealed the win minutes later but a brilliant tackle from Nabuli stopped him.
Then Cooper stepped up to be the hero. His bullocking try, and the conversion that came with it, edged the Dragons in front by two points and they held on bravely for the next 13 minutes.
