St George forward Jack Stockwell is set to sign with the Newcastle Knights, according to reports.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Stockwell is expected to be released to the Knights as the Dragons are $500,000 over their salary cap limit for next season.
Winger Brett Morris is also expected to leave the club and join the Canterbury Bulldogs.
If both players are to leave the Dragons, it will free up much-needed room in the cap to add some size to its struggling forward pack.
George Rose is expected to sign a minimum-wage contract with the Dragons, while they have also been linked with controversial jailed Kiwi Russell Packer.
Stockwell has played 35 games for the Dragons since joining the club in 2012.
