St. Louis Rams running back Isaiah Pead was carried off the field in the preseason game against the Green Bay Packers after a kickoff return.
However, Pead did not make any contact when his injury occurred. The running back planted on his left foot, and he was helped off the field.
Pead was expected to be a key special teams contributor for the Rams despite being well behind Zac Stacy and Tre Mason on the running back depth chart.
He has not panned out as the running back of the future the Rams had hoped for since they drafted him in the second round of the 2012 draft.
It remains to be seen how serious Pead’s injury is, but if he can recover soon, he is expected to remain on the Rams roster. Otherwise, the running back may be a candidate for the PUP list if it turns out worse than the Rams are expecting.
