Liverpool’s hopes of keeping Raheem Sterling at Anfield appear to be dead in the water following the latest reports about his relationship with manager Brendan Rodgers.
Sterling has been persistently linked with a summer switch to Manchester City, after rejecting a £100,000-a-week contract extension with Liverpool.
Liverpool have rejected two bids from City, as the Reds refuse to budge from their £50m asking price.
There did appear to be a glimmer of hope that Sterling may remain on Merseyside, as the 20-year-old returned to training on Tuesday.
However, Sky Sports claim that Sterling has told Rodgers that he does not want to play for him and that his desire to leave is not about money.

Liverpool are due to jet off for their pre-season tour of Australia and Asia on Sunday.
Sky claim that Sterling has indicated that it would be in everyone’s best interests if he did not travel.
What does Sterling have against Rodgers?
The Northern Irishman is infamously cocky, but that surely can’t be it.
Maybe it all stems back to this incident…
