Liverpool and Manchester City are believed to be in advanced negotiations over the transfer of Raheem Sterling.
The England winger will not travel on Liverpool’s pre-season tour to the Far East on Sunday as he nears the Anfield exit that he has been pushing for all summer.
Liverpool had named Sterling, who reportedly called in sick for pre-season training earlier this week, in their 30-man squad for their tour of Thailand, Australia and Malaysia.
The 20-year-old is refusing to sign a new contract with the Reds, who had previously vowed to hold out for £50m for Sterling and rejected two bids from the Citizens.
But Sky Sports claims that Liverpool are now ready to accept a £45m offer from the Blues in order to resolve what has undoubtedly been the transfer saga of the summer so far.
City are looking to sign top English talent in order to boost their home-grown quota, but were dealt a blow on Saturday when midfield target Fabian Delph insisted that he was staying at Aston Villa.
