The 41-year-old enjoyed a stellar career in the league and after 18 seasons playing in the NBA, his announcement that he was retiring was unsurprisingly met with great sadness but also praise from his peers.
Nash played for the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks as well as the Los Angeles Lakers more recently, and he undoubtedly developed into one of the finest point guard’s in the history of the game with his assist-making ability and clinical shooting from beyond the arc.
The Canadian ace made the All-Star team six times in 10 seasons while also winning the MVP award in both 2005 and 2006, and although he wasn’t able to enjoy his final two years in the league with the Lakers due to injuries, he will still be remembered as an all-time great.
Here is just a small collection of the messages that he received on Twitter in the immediate aftermath of his announcement:
It was an honor to play with you @SteveNash and I'm proud to have you as a friend! Thanks for what you taught me. #2xMVP #Legend
