Suarez goes cold on England skipper.
Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard has revealed that Luis Suarez is giving him the silent treatment as the duo prepare to clash in a showdown game at the World Cup this week.
The Uruguayan hit man is in a race to be fit to face England on Thursday evening and Gerrard has found that the friendly text messages going back and forth between them have suddenly gone cold.
Gerrard now believes that the star striker is keeping his progress reports to himself as he is Uruguay’s best chance at making it out of the group following their shock defeat to Costa Rica on Saturday.
“I’m not sure where Suarez is up to injury-wise but I expect him to play some part because he’s been so quiet,” Gerrard said.
“I expect him to be involved in some capacity so they have really good firepower up front but we’ve seen against Costa Rica they are certainly beatable. They concede goals and if we attack like we did against Italy we will cause Uruguay big, big problems.”
Both England and Uruguay currently prop up Group D after suffering opening day defeats as England went down 2-1 to Italy in the day’s late kick off.
