The Spanish striker is no stranger to allegations of assault, but surely he’s got no case to answer on this occasion!?
Jose Mourinho would have you know that his Chelsea side are often unfairly targeted.
The Special One is wrong, in general. However, Chelsea striker Diego Costa was seemingly the victim of a ridiculous witch hunt after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Stoke City.
According to ITV Sport reporter Sam Matterface, a Stoke steward lodged a complaint with match referee Anthony Taylor, alleging that Costa had “assaulted” him during the game.
The below video then went viral online.
If this is genuinely the incident that the complaint was made about then the whole thing is utterly ridiculous. We are not the only people who think so either. Sky Sports News quote a Chelsea spokesperson as saying that the allegation of assault is “utter nonsense”.
Make up you own minds. If you can see what Costa has done to warrant an “assault” charge, please let us know in the comments section!
It’s worth noting that there were three police officers stood very close to the incident. Should they have cuffed Costa there and then!?
