Swansea and Stoke City have also endured miserable 2013s…
Bar the newly promoted teams, these five Premier League clubs have won less points than any in 2013…
5) Norwich 23 points
Norwich have been ambitious in the transfer market this summer, and perhaps they needed to be! Only four sides have picked up less points than the Canaries in 2013, and Chris Hughton will hope new strikers Ricky Van Wolfswinkel and Gary Hooper can fire the side into mid-table.
4) Swansea 21 points
A surprise on this list. Swansea won the League Cup in 2013, but if the Premier League table had started in January, they would be fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table. Michael Laudrup needs to be careful that his pretty passing football still breeds results.
3) Stoke City 19 points
Perhaps the time was right for Tony Pulis to move on? Mark Hughes has done well so far this season, winning two matches out of three, which means Pulis only picked up 13 points in the second half of the season with the Potters.
2) Sunderland 18 points
Paulo Di Canio’s side feel like a team that has lost most of their matches in 2013 – and they have. The Black Cats have a miserable record, picking up only 18 points all calendar year, and the Italian will be facing the sack shortly unless his new signings gel quickly.
1) West Brom 17 points
Despite their impressive 8th place finish last season, West Brom have been the worst side in the Premier league in 2013! this year, they will also be without Romalu Lukaku’s goals, and after spending hardly any money in the summer, boss Steve Clarke will do well to keep the Baggies up.
