Sunderland’s shocking start to the season could cost Di Canio his job…
Sunderland manager Paulo Di Canio could be sacked tomorrow, and replaced by former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo, Sky Italy is reporting.
The Italian manager has endured a terrible start to the season, despite signing 15 new players over the summer. The Black Cats currently sit at the bottom of the table, having picked up only one point from five matches.
Fellow Italian and former Premier League rival Roberto Di Matteo has been lined up the replace the outspoken Di Canio. Di Matteo’s last job was at Chelsea, where he won the Champions League in 2012, but was sacked shortly after following a slow start to the Premier League season.
If Di Canio was sacked after only five games, his dismissal would be one of the quickest firings of a manager at the start of a Premier League season.
Sunderland’s Di Canio might be sacked by tomorrow and replaced by Di Matteo, according to Sky Italy!
