Londoners have deemed player surplus to requirements.
Sunderland want to sign experienced Tottenham Hotspur midfield player Scott Parker this summer, according to reports in the Sunday Mirror.
The veteran England international has only been at White Hart Lane for the past two seasons now, having originally signed for the north London club from city-rivals West Ham United for just £5.5 million in Aug 2011.
And in the intervening two-year period, the 32-year-old has proved himself to be one of the most consistent and effective holding midfield players plying their trade in the Premier League, with Parker featuring in 62 matches in all competitions for Tottenham in that time, including 49 contests in the top flight.
However, with a contract at White Hart Lane that only runs until 2015, Spurs are understood to be willing to listen to offers in the region of £4m for Parker this summer and Sunderland feel that they can persuade the defensive midfield player to swap the capital for Wearside.
