What can the Italian international add to Sunderland?
Sunderland have secured the £6.5m deal to bring Emanuele Giaccherini to the Stadium of Light.
Mackems manager Paulo Di Canio has brought in his fellow countryman Giaccherini, hoping he can inject the creativity into the final third Sunderland lacked last term.

Here’s some stats, courtesy of Squawka, that suggest Giaccherini could well boost the Sunderland midfield next season:
-Of all players to play ten games or more in Italy last year, Giaccherini made a key pass every 24 minutes, which was the fourth best record in the league.
-Again, Giaccherini was the fourth best player in Serie A when it came to minutes per shot, by taking one every 24.8 minutes.
-The 28-year-old created a chance every 30 minutes last season. That’s a better rate than Stephane Sessegnon (72) and Andrew Johnson (53).
-Giaccherini’s pass accuracy of 88 per cent for Juventus last season was better than every player in Sunderland’s entire squad, bar D.Vaughan on 89 per cent.
-Compared to his Newcastle contemporary Hatem Ben Arfa, Giaccherini created more chances and had a better passing accuracy, despite playing fewer games. Giaccherini – Ben Arfa: Appearances 17-19. Goals 3-4. Chances Created 31-25. Assists 2-2. Pass Accuracy 88 per cent – 81 per cent.
