Lions XII scrape through nail-biting game
Lions XII Coach V Sundramoorthy believes the Gods are now smiling on his side as they edged out Perak in the Malaysia Cup.
After only managing one point from the first three games, the Lions survived a last minute scare to beat Selandang 2-1.
Asyraf Sahizah could have saved the hosts a point but his header cleared the bar by inches in the last minutes of the game.
Lions rode their luck earlier on, with Perak having a goal wrongly ruled out as the referee adjudged it not to have crossed the line.
Speaking to Goal Singapore Sundramoorthy said: My luck changed at last If that was in the first three games, the ball might have gone in.”
The Coach also praised his players attitudes in the game: “With the desire and the way the boys put in the effort, they really wanted to qualify.
“They are not like a team who is down and out; the way we went about doing the job is [proof] we wanted to win this game very badly.
“They tried their best, we needed the luck on our side, and eventually we got something out of this game. We [have] put ourselves in the running for the quarter-finals now. We have two more games [and] if we can beat Sarawak, then everything will be open.”
