Jenkins in the hunt for Shelvey, Gomis and Bony.
Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has spoken out about the club’s summer targets confirming interest in Liverpool’s Jonjo Shelvey and strikers Bafetimbi Gomis and Wlifried Gomis.
All three have been linked with the Swans for some time and fans in south Wales can start rubbing their hands in anticipation as Jenkins reveals the rumours are true.
“There have been continual conversations on Bafetimbi Gomis because he has been one of our main targets,” the Welshman told the South Wales Evening Post.
“We have kept the door open on that one. Similarly with Wilfried Bony, we are waiting for information.
“We are waiting for news back from his club — we are still talking to them.”
As for Shelvey, it appears a deal being struck with the Reds seems even closer as the Swans enter talks with the Merseyside outfit.
“There is an interest there and we are talking to Liverpool.”
This can only act as positive news for Swansea supporters as the club looks to improve even more under manager Michael Laudrup, having won their first major trophy with the League Cup last season and comfortably avoiding relegation from the Premier League by finishing ninth.
The rise to glory for the club has been quite impressive and is shown by the genuine links with international forwards of the calibre of Gomis and Bony – who play for Olympique Lyon and Vitesse Arnhem respectively.
The 24-year-old Bony has scored six goals in 18 appearances for the Ivory Coast, whilst the Lyon man has earned 12 caps for France and netted three times.
Both forwards would bolster a slightly weak Swans attacking line, with midfielder-come-striker Michu, Leroy Lita and Luke Moore the only recognised strikers at the club since the sale of Danny Graham to Sunderland in January.
