Bony’s agent admits a deal is close for the Vitesse striker.
The agent of Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony has revealed that a transfer to Swansea City is close despite Liverpool and Everton targeting the Ivorian in the past.
The Swans have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old for some time but complications occurred when deciding on a fee with Vitesse.
“Why does it take so long? Six months ago, we made arrangements for a lump sum of €12m, regardless of goals,” Bony’s agent Francis Kacou was quoted in the Daily Mail.
“Swansea wanted to pay and Bony has seen that, but Vitesse wanted more. Now there is an offer of €14m plus €2m in bonuses.”
Now that the two clubs have come to an agreement over a £12m fee, which could rise to £13.8m with the add-ons, the Welsh side are ready to land their man.
Kacou also confirmed that there has been interest in the Ivory Coast international from Liverpool, Everton and West Ham United, but Swansea were the ones who have now wrapped up the deal.
Bony will arrive at the Liberty Stadium to boost a Swans attack that is currently only made up of Leroy Lita, Luke Moore and Michu – following the sale of Danny Graham to Sunderland in January.
Yet with 58 goals in 77 appearances for Vitesse since joining the club from Sparta Prague two-and-a-half years ago, the striker certainly has the credentials in-front of goal.
Bony has also earned 18 caps for his country since making his international debut in 2010 and has netted six times.
