Welsh side target Magpies ace to fill void left by Ivorian goal machine.
Swansea City are said to be lining up a move for Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse as a replacement for the outbound Wilfried Bony, who is set to join Manchester City this month, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Bony is set to complete a £30million move to Manchester City this week and Swansea believe they can get Cissé to fill the gap in the squad as Newcastle do not have a permanent manager to argue the case for keeping him.
Cisse is also on African Cup of Nations duty with Senegal, and has admitted that he is aware of the interest posed by the Welsh side.
With just 18 months left to run on his current deal, Newcastle could be tempted to cash in on the striker who turns 30 next year.
Cisse cost Newcastle £9m when he joined from Freiburg three years ago, but could be let go for just £7m.
