The Sky Blues will play clubs from each of Serie A, Serie B and Serie C.
Sydney FC have announced they will play six matches on their historic three week long pre-season tour of Italy.
The Sky Blues will meet clubs from Serie A, Serie B and Serie C during their near month long stay in Europe where they will be based in Jesolo on the Adriatic Sea, while training twice daily at the Stadio Comunale Picchi.
A marquee match against Alessandro Del Piero’s first professional club Padova is the standout fixture of the excursion with Venezia, Vicenza Calcio and Reggiana providing further opposition along with reserve sides from Udinese and A.S. Cittadella.
Head coach Frank Farina hopes the trip and the scope of their opponents will give the Sydney 23-players flying out an opportunity to carry over into a game what they’ve worked on in practice recently.
“I’m really happy with the matches we’ve secured,” Farina told Four Four Two.
“This tour will give us a great opportunity to put into practice the changes we are making to our style of play while taking on good opposition in hot conditions similar to what we will experience during the season.
“We will also be training twice a day to make sure we come back from the tour ready to enter the final phase of pre season leading up to the start of the A-League.
“We’ve also managed to organise a good cross section of games against opposition of varying quality so every member of the squad will be able to take part in matches where they will be tested.”
The Sydney tour-squad: Necevski, Ryall, Warren, Bosschaart, Jurman, Emerton, Bojic, Gameiro, Del Piero, Calvano, Mallia, McFlynn, Chianese, Triantis, Carle, Janjetovic, Yau, Abbas, Grant, Daniel Petkovski, MacDonald, Taneski, Urosevski.
