McFlynn feels this is most well rounded team the Sky Blues have put together in eight seasons.
Sydney FC captain Terry McFlynn insists the current squad is the strongest in the clubs history even after losing star striker Joel Griffiths.
Just seven months after arriving at the Sky Blues from Shanghai Shenhua the 33-year-old has returned to the Chinese Super League to sign for Qingdao Jonoon after being released from the final year of his contract.
Losing the former Golden Boot winner has left Frank Farina’s side short on attacking options with Alessandro Del Piero the only senior forward currently at the Sydney Football Stadium ahead of the new A-League season.
But that hasn’t registered as an issue with skipper McFlynn and he revealed his excitement at how the team is shaping up after the acquisition of Young Socceroos Hagi Gligor and Corey Gameiro from Wellington Phoenix.
“I’ve been at the club from day one and I think this is possibly our strongest squad we’ve had in all the years I’ve been here,” the 32-year-old told FourFourTwo Aus.
“Just in terms of depth and mobility we’ve got the right blend of experience and youngsters so I think it’s an exciting season ahead.”
