The Roosters’ defence was impressive, only letting in one try in the 68th minute.
The visitors went ahead after just 10 minutes when Michael Jennings set up Daniel Tupou on the wing. Eleven minutes later they were in again when Jennings dived on Mitchell Pearce’s kick.
The grubber was perfectly placed and Jennings was there to score.
Aiden Guerra scored the next Roosters’ try, another off a Pearce kick. Boyd Coydner added another four-pointer just before half-time, meaning the Roosters had an impressive 22-0 lead at the break.
The Cowboys had no respone. The home side were almost over in the second half, when Roger Tuivasa-Sheck spectacularly spilled the ball on his own try-line, but Matt Scott couldn’t ground the ball.
The Roosters notched their fifth, and Coydner’s second try for the evening, after the forward was put over by James Maloney. The Cowboys finally broke the deadlock when a quick shift to the left found Justin O’Neill in some space on the right wing.
But it was too little too late as Eastern Suburbs ran out comfortable 28-4 victors.
