The NSW Origin star will miss six weeks of NRL action with a back injury.
Sydney Roosters winger Daniel Tupou has been ruled out for six weeks following a back injury suffered whilst representing New South Wales in Origin III at Suncorp Stadium.
The 23-year-old suffered a tear in his latissimus dorsi muscle, an identical injury to that which team-mate Michael Jennings received in Origin II.
Roosters centre Shaun Kenny-Dowall said on Tuesday that losing Tupou would be a huge blow to the side.
“Especially him going through that whole Origin series he would be high on confidence,” Kenny-Dowall said on Tuesday.
“Unfortunately he is going to miss five or six weeks, he is a great player and some of our young guys are really going to have to step up in his absence.”
In other injury news for the Roosters, both Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and skipper Anthony Minichello are expected to return for the club’s Round 19 fixture against the Penrith Panthers.
