Nick Smith v. Lindsay Thomas
One of the most dangerous small forwards in the competition comes up against one of the premier shutdown defenders.
Nick Smith is one of the best small defenders in the league and this will be a cracking dual to watch.
Thomas was hugely influential in the Kangaroos’ win over Geelong last week, aiding big man Drew Petrie in the forward line in what was nail-biting victory for Brad Scott’s side.
Like any high quality small forward, Thomas’ speed around the stoppages is crucial, but when you add in his strong marking abilities it’s possible to envisage that Smith may have a tough night ahead of him.
Another ripping contest to keep an eye on
Josh Kennedy v. Andrew Swallow
Like the Parker-Cunningham matchup, these two won’t play directly on one another but the one who wins the most clearances and contested footy will have a big say on the result of this clash.
Swallow has been excellent in 2014, but there’s no doubt Kennedy has been on another level.
Deservedly picked in the 2014 All-Australian side, Kennedy will back himself to get the better of Swallow in this one.
