Former Test off-spinner Nathan Hauritz has joined the Sydney Thunder on a one-year Big Bash League deal.
Hauritz played in 17 Tests for Australia, picking up 63 wickets at an average of 34.98.
The 32-year-old has been playing for the Brisbane Heat since 2011.
Thunder general manager Nick Cummins said the side was delighted to secure a player of Hauritz’s experience.
“Nathan is a proven performer who has succeeded at the highest level and will bring both experience and a winning attitude to the Thunder,” Cummins said.
“He will provide us with a quality spinning option that will complement our attack well, in addition to adding depth to our batting line-up.
“He has a good T20 record and I know that he is excited about being part of the Thunder for this season.”
