But now, according to The Sun, the Colombian’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has held exploratory talks with the Blues about extending his stay in the English top flight for another year.
The 29-year-old was with Manchester United last season, but failed to earn a permanent switch after scoring a paltry four goals in 29 appearances, which represented a poor return for the £5m they paid Monaco for the privilege.
United chief Louis Van Gaal was told that it would cost £42m to make the deal permanent, but sent him packing back to the south of France.

Monaco now hope to sell him in order to get his £265,000-per-week wages off their books.
