Buccaneers QB Josh McCown did a good job solidifying his role as starting QB with a 90.6 passer rating against the Bills.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Buffalo Bills 27-14 in Week 3 of the NFL preseason.
The Buccaneers took a first half lead of 24-0 but were outscored 14-0 in the third quarter. However, the Bills were unable to rally and the Buccaneers tacked on a field goal in the last five minutes of the game, leaving the final score at 27-14.
Bucs QB Josh McCown was relatively sharp, going 13 of 16 for 112 yards with a TD and an INT, giving him a passer rating of 90.6 – the best of any QB in the game. He also added 21 yards on the ground on two carries, including a 19-yard scamper. McCown’s lone TD came with 1:05 remaining in the 2nd quarter to No. 7 overall pick WR Mike Evans, who made a 24-yard catch.
Bills QB EJ Manuel struggled mightily in the game, throwing an INT on the first possession and fumbling the ball which was returned for a TD in the 2nd quarter. RB CJ Spiller also struggled, losing a fumble of his own in the first quarter which the Bucs turned into a TD drive. Manuel was able to recover in the third quarter, leading the Bills on two TD drives in the 3rd quarter before leaving the game.
