The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were humiliated on national television as they lost to the Atlanta Falcons, 56-14. Buccaneers quarterback Josh McCown struggled greatly before suffering a hand injury.
The Buccaneers fell behind, 56-0, and they fell to 0-3 as they looked like the worst team in the NFL. Quarterback Mike Glennon eventually stepped in and looked more promising than McCown.
McCown is scheduled to have an MRI exam on his hand, and this will give Glennon an opportunity to win back the starting job.
Even if McCown is fully healthy, the Buccaneers are sure to strongly consider giving Glennon the starting job since the Buccaneers offense has sputtered with McCown as the starting quarterback.
Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith seems to like what Glennon brings to the table as well. “I thought Mike came in and did some good things. There weren’t a whole lot of bright spots tonight but for a guy, you know, your backup quarterback doesn’t get a whole lot of reps,” Smith said to NFL.com.
The Buccaneers have many problems to deal with, but quarterback is the biggest issue they will have to face for now.
