The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will face the Miami Dolphins as Josh McCown looks to recover and keep a hold on the starting quarterback job.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers disappointed in their preseason debut by losing 16-10 to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and they will look to recover Saturday against the Miami Dolphins.
Quarterback Josh McCown’s grip on the starting job loosened after he threw for just 20 yards and an interception and lost a fumble. Meanwhile, Mike Glennon performed admirably in backup duty, throwing for 140 yards and a touchdown.
The Buccaneers’ running game took a hit as rookie Charles Sims will be out for 12-14 weeks with ankle surgery.
Rookie tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins is a key player to watch as he continues to battle for targets. His debut went swimmingly as he caught two passes for 29 yards.
The Dolphins had a flawless performance from quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who completed all six of his passes for 62 yards and a touchdown.
Wide receiver Rishard Matthews took advantage of the absence of Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline as he caught two passes for 40 yards, including a 36-yard catch.
The offensive line showed a lot of improvement against the Falcons, but it will face a bigger test against the Buccaneers’ defensive line.
