4. Mats Hummels – Borussia Dortmund
Valuation: £35m
Who wants him: Arsenal, Manchester United
Probably the most in demand defender in the world right now, and had it not been for his resolve to help keep Dortmund in the German top flight he’d have been out the door already. However, next season will be a different story, and he will look to get back to the Champions League as soon as possible.
3. Gareth Bale – Real Madrid
Valuation: £80m
Who wants him: Chelsea, Manchester United
Bale is a player of outrageous ability, and is currently being under appreciated by a side that are only fractionally ahead in the race to with the Spanish league. Should this treatment continue, Bale may well decide to move back to the UK where the boos will strictly come from the away supporters.
2. Lionel Messi – Barcelona
Valuation: £200m
Who wants him: Chelsea, Manchester City
The two Premier League sides are realistically the only clubs able to afford the diminutive Argentine. Both were linked with him during the January window, but were ultimately put off making a move. But with the new TV money and some help from Adidas, Messi could make a shock exit from the Catalan side sooner than expected.
1. Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid
Valuation: £130m
Who wants him: Manchester United
This could be the deal that finally brings Ronaldo back to Old Trafford. Having appeared to settle his differences with the club’s hierarchy in Madrid, a deal would seem to be unlikely. However, having turned 30 earlier this week, Real could decide to cash in on his services before it’s too late.
