5) Hulk (Zenit Saint Petersburg, £35.5m)
A ridiculously over-hyped player, Brazilian forward Hulk has been linked with a whole host of top clubs in recent years on the back of one good season for Porto as they won the treble in 2010/11. The 27-year-old may possess a thunderous long-range shot with his left foot, but his displays at the top level for Brazil at this summer’s World Cup show that he really doesn’t offer a lot more in tight encounters. With other big sides seemingly unsure over him, he made the £35.5m move to Zenit Saint Petersburg in 2012 and hasn’t exactly set the world alight in the Russian top flight, even though it’s hardly the most competitive league in Europe.
