3) David Luiz (Paris Saint-Germain, £50m)
Former Chelsea defender David Luiz has not even kicked a ball in a Paris Saint-Germain shirt yet, but it looks pretty clear already that the Brazilian is one of the most over-rated players in the game today. Having never truly convinced on a consistent basis during his time at Stamford Bridge, the former Benfica man was also in spectacularly bad form for his country at this summer’s World Cup, spending more time trying to join in the attack than focusing on his defensive duties, and making a number of high-profile individual errors at the back to gift goals to the opposition, none more so than when his side were anihiliated 7-1 by Germany in the semi-finals. PSG may already be regretting their decision, while Chelsea will be laughing all the way to the bank.
