Even in his earlier career with Arsenal, Premier League fans around the country never really warmed to Ashley Cole, and he has gone on to alienate people further since his controversial move to Chelsea. The England left-back is regarded as one of the finest defenders this country has produced, but his attempt to force an exit from Arsenal to their arch rivals made him a hate figure in north London, while his increased desire for celebrity status with pop star Cheryl Cole saw his reputation sink further as well.
