Offered the chance to re-sign their former captain and world class playmaker Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona, Arsenal inexplicably turned down the opportunity, allowing the Spaniard to move to rivals Chelsea (again) for a bargain price of just £30m. Although the Gunners have other options in the middle of the park, Fabregas’ superb displays for the Blues so far show that he is likely to go down as one of the signings of the summer, and he looks set to star in the Premier League again.
